OpenID and Cardspace

I shant add to the already numerous blog entries about the announced collaboration between Microsoft and Verisign to bring together OpenID and Cardspace. Instead, I have a question: is anyone working on an open, cross-platform implementation of WS-Trust, etc — the open standards on which Cardspace is based — for use by browsers such as Firefox, Konquerer and perhaps even Opera when running on non-Windows platforms to implement equivilent functionality?

I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself here, but as a user of non-Microsoft browsers on non-Microsoft platforms I'm eager to be able to reap the benefits of this effort to converge. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
